« Disability is not an inability. »

An extraordinary destiny

Born in October 1966 in Cameroon, I lost my sight at the age of 15. This ordeal, which could have broken many destinies, became the starting point of a lifelong commitment to the inclusion of persons with disabilities.

A training that changes a trajectory

In 1984, I joined the Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind (RIB) in Buea, where I obtained training in braille (English and French), orientation and mobility, crafts, basketry, livestock farming and agriculture. It was there that I met Martin Luther, who would become a faithful companion.

Together, with our installation allowance, we created the Cooperative of Rehabilitated Young Blind People of Yaoundé (COJARY), which became in 1988 the Club of Rehabilitated Young Blind People of Cameroon (CJARC).

Returning to studies, against all odds

Determined to improve the conditions of learners with disabilities integrated into the mainstream education system, I decided to resume my own studies: I obtained my BEPC at age 49. That was just the beginning.
